A-krim is workplace crime.
These are actions that violate Norwegian laws on wages and working conditions, social security, taxes and fees, often carried out in an organized manner, that exploit employees or distort competition and undermine the social structure.
Workplace crime is also when the employer does not follow HSE, does not provide suitable work clothes, tools and protective equipment.
Does not follow the Working Environment Act or relevant regulations such as: allowing apprentices to work alone, not implementing measures against quartz, asbestos and other hazardous substances, using unsafe ladders and work methods.
It may also be that you are put in charge of the company against your will or without your knowledge and you can thus incur debts that only benefit the company.
Who is subject to workplace crime?
It is not only immigrant workers who are exposed to workplace crime, everyone can be exposed to workplace crime.
Immigrants are more likely to not know their rights and are thus easier to exploit.
Why should I report workplacecrime?
workplace crime damages work life. The abuses you accept now become the standard when the environment and attitude is such that everyone accepts it.
A-crime benefits the company and its owners, not you as an employee. The favor you do your boss by not speaking out can harm you or your colleagues by not receiving compensation for serious injury (FairPlay Bygg- Workplace injury (p.32)), or by having your rights restricted (e.g. working longer hours, having to buy your own clothes and equipment). The company also gets different terms than the serious ones so that they can offer lower prices for jobs. It undermines serious working life.
How to report workplace crime?
The best thing is if you can report it internally within the company, if this does not feel safe and you are afraid of retaliation, there are many other agencies and organizations you can contact:
